PROFESSIONAL SUMMARY

Mr. Tatum has been providing timely, cost effective assistance to PRP groups and litigants in the resolution of allocation issues at hazardous waste sites since 1987 when he left Ford Motor Company to open his private practice. The sites have ranged from very large and complex (4,000+ parties, 350,000 manifests) to court ordered mediation between 5 parties. In recognition of his experience he is on the roster of Environmental Conflict Resolution Professionals developed by the US IECR and was approved for allocation and mediation under the dispute resolution provisions of the Michigan Superfund (MERA).

He is a member of the Bar in Oregon and Michigan and is on the facilitative mediator roster for courts in Michigan.

He is an adjunct professor at Wayne State University teaching Environmental Conflict Resolution and is a frequent speaker on environmental mediation and ADR.

He is past Chair of the Environmental Law Section of the Michigan Bar and is Vice-Chair of the ABA Environmental section’s ADR Committee. Additional community activities include service as a member and former Chairperson of the Oakland County Local Emergency Planning Committee, Trustee and Secretary of the Oakland Land Conservancy, homeowners associations and alumni associations.

Specific PRP Site Support Retained by PRPs or litigants

Specific analysis efforts have been undertaken for individual clients at sites involving Municipal Solid Waste, drum recyclers, solvent / oil recyclers and scrap metal / transformer processors. Allocation evaluations, expert testimony and challenge preparation have been supported for other mixed waste and industrial waste landfills.
